Cardboard is never enough to protect your belongings. It’s too flimsy. All sorts of critters will be able to tunnel through holes or other entryways that they create. Never store food, even briefly, unless it’s canned. We recommend against it since canned goods are far more likely to be broken into. Otherwise, keeping food in your storage does more harm than good, as animals will stop at nothing to get to it, even if you put it in plastic bins.
